Suzanne you are such a wonderful soul to take a moment and write in your blog about Patrick's passing. I think you are a beautiful person and I"m not even aware of what was said in Toronto but knowing the kind of caring person you show to the world, I don't believe you would intentionally say or do anything to hurt his family.

It is sad to realize that there are cruel people who's only interest is in their own 15 seconds of fame at the expense of others. They didn't care if they hurt a family who was already sadden by the loss of their loved one or for the damage that it would do to you. Everyone has said things out loud as they try to proses their thoughts and feelings. Everyone that knows you and your own personal experience with cancer knows you would never say anything to hurt the family that has lost someone to cancer let a lone a friend and colliege.

This is the first time I've been on your blog but I had to comment. It may not
have been your intention to make a comment such as the one you made about
Patrick Swayze but maybe next time you will think before you speak. Having known
three people relatively close to my family that have died from pancreatic cancer
it is one of the deadliest forms of cancer and all three of them have chosen
different ways of treatment. What works for one person doesn't
always work for another. This was the option he chose. You chose yours.

Suzanne, I saw the NYPost's blip about your comments--they called it "Holistic Hoo-ha." I knew you were telling the truth, but had no idea what the context was. Shane Ellison, The People's Chemist, also made comments on his blog that Mr. Swayze fell to the treatment, not the cancer itself. I thought the same things you thought, but I'm not around reporters. Thanks for telling the truth.

Yes, my comfort goes out to Patrick and his wife of 30 years. They trully were soulmates and they had a wonderful life dancing and loving, I understand. Yes,
there is much confusion regarding what to do when a person is diagnosed with Cancer....there is soooo much out there. And people automatically think that if Alternative Medicine is the answer, why do we not have more information in the mainstream understanding. Because there is not enough studies to back it up holistic choices by Physcians....the shift that has to come is Food As Medicine and Dr. do not study nutrition.
I also think that God has timing and we do not truly know the path of somebody's soul and what God has in store for us or that person or maybe God wants us back home?
I am sorry that a reporter quoted you without your permission. But, the fact are about cancer is that it adds further toxins to an all ready toxic body because all the cells are destroyed in the body.

We need to study how many people diagnosed with cancer are actually dying from the treatment. Doctors know that chemotherapy and radiation are themselves carcinogenic. Yet, the cancer industry is dragging its feet in promoting less invasive, more specifically targeted anti-cancer tools. When the Kaiser Permanente doctors wanted to give me the usual slash and burn routine after my breast lump was removed, I walked away. Eight years later,I'm better than ever. On the other hand, my dear brother, who was diagnosed with throat cancer, submitted to doctors' prescribed chemo/radiation and didn't even survive a year. Please keep speaking out, Suzanne. We need to pull back the wizards' curtain on the cancer industry.

I am disappointed that you said what you did, no matter to whom it was said. I am all for herbs and healthy eating as a preventative but when it comes to pancreatic cancer, the DEADLIEST cancer with the highest death rate, chemotherapy is the only cure. After that only 10% that survive. Perhaps pancan.org can enlighten you.

Suzanne, I wrote to you on your suzannesommers.com and I guess you didn't get it. However, your remark that Patrick Swayze should have gone with some other treatment than chemo was shocking at best. My own mother had the same disease he had and for one thing she couldn't be put on chemo. She had to come home and hospice helped her along with her family to be at peace with morphine. I don't care what you or any other Hollywood star has been on. Just think about other people in this country who like to die with dignity. And many people can't afford the luxury of having alternative treatments.

Hi Suzanne, I have looking for a way to contact you after hearing of your "comment" on the View today. I was extremly hurt by it, because I have lost my best friend to this type of cancer and know firsthand there is no cure..no amount of herbs will make a difference in the outcome. I feel that Patrick was a smart intelligent person and made all the right decisions concerning his treatment and that is the reason he lived as long and as well as he did. I know that you would never say such a thing in the manner that Whoopie told us you did. I would definately place a call to the ladies of the view and set them straight. I truly believe that The View shuould have attempted to get a comment from you first. But, then that's not the kind of T.V. they strive for. I appreciate your apology. It was very hurtful to hear you say that I basically killed my big brother when I fought with all my heart to save him. Lisa and I did all our own hospice care. Lisa and I personally gave Patrick shots, attached IV bags and yes......we actually hooked up the chemo ourselves. In a cloud of confusion and pain we did our best. We did what we were told after Patrick decided on his preferred course of treatment. My brother was a powerful guy with deep sensitivity and was very intelligent. He was in charge of his treatment. So when you said(however unwittingly) that "THEY took this beautiful man and pumped him full of poison".....you were talking about his wife of 34 years and his younger brother(me), who idolized and adored his big brother. Thank you again for your apology!!

I was so upset and angry when I read Suzanne's comment. Just because she didn't know her comment was being made to a reporter, does not excuse what she said. My husband died of Pancreatic Cancer after a 4 year battle. Suzanne obviously knows nothing about this cancer and how deadly it is. I hope before she makes medical statements she does research and is informed. Yes, she has successfully fought breast cancer so far, maybe without chemo, but she did have radiation. Also, there are many different types of breast cancer, caught at different stages. There are no preventative tests for pancreatic cancer, like a mammogram for breast cancer.
The survival rates are very different between breast and pancreatic cancer.
Again Suzanne, please don't call chemotherapy poison, I would hate to think you may influence someone whose life depends on it.

There are numerous case studies that show that cancer can be healed using raw food and proper nutrition. There are even centers that have been treating cancer naturally and without using chemo for years. However, it is a lot of work to eat raw food and juice. Besides, it is not the popular choice because there is too much at stake for doctors and drug companies to promote raw food and juicing as a way to heal the body from cancer. It is a fact that chemo does a number on the body. I hope you continue to speak on this issue even though you will continue to be challenged. Sometimes people in their grief project their sadness and loss onto what really challenges them.

I think the reporter who printed Suzanne's words is the one who should be hearing from everyone. Don't tell me that Suzanne is the only celebrity who has spoken about Patrick Swayze's death, and she did not know that she was "on the record" when she did so. I know many people who are not in favor of chemotherapy, and just because she is a celebrity does not mean she should have to keep her opinion about that to herself. She did not make a public statement concerning this very sad situation. A very classless reporter pulled a fast one in order to try to stir up controversy in the midst of great sorrow for Mr. Swayze's family and friends, and that is what is disgusting in this whole mess. If Patrick Swayze's brother appreciates Suzanne's apology, I should think the rest of you could, too.

I do believe in a natural approach to healing, but what Patrick had was way passed it. It sucks putting the poison into your system, I had breast cancer and had to go thru Chemo, but I knew that was my only hope of surviving it. I'm three years out and wouldn't trade one Chemo treatment for a natural approach. I have two kids who I want to see grow up and get married and I knew if I didn't take the treatment, my chances of attending their major milestones in life would be decreased. I feel that treatments for cancer are harsly attacked, but realize cancer could care less and it needs to be attacked forcefully. I was one of the lucky ones who made it thru Chemo w/out being sick. I thank God every day for that and the opportunity to see each day and live it to the fullest. We must find humor in the bad situations in our life or we would never survive. I pray that sometime in the near future, this awful disease will have a cure.

I was given a 2-year death sentence as a 34-year old in the Army because of adenocarcenoma. Now, as a 21-year lung cancer survivor, I well know the difference between a large variety of cancers and their stages. I've lost too many military friends through the years; some had incurable cancers, some missed or ignored the signs, some even chose herbal therapies over surgery and drugs. The scientific community has accomplished much in recent years to prolong and improve the quality of life for survivors of the two deadliest cancers, pancreatic and glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer. Even if the drugs only mean the difference between three months and three years, that's three more years a survivor is blessed to share with their loving, caring, family and friends. Whereas prayers and herbal therapies may supplement the drugs on these particular cancers, only a fool would say that herbal therapies should've been exclusively prescribed. I hope and pray that nobody with these or other late-stage cancers take your naive words to heart.

I learned of your comment the other day and personally do agree with your feelings towards these drugs. My boyfriend has been battling his own health issues for 2 yrs. (non-cancer related). I've learned so much from him the relation of food to health. I just read Patrick's brother statement and its touching to know his love for Patrick. Personally, it's a very personal decision regarding treatment.

I am a breast cancer survivor of one year and would never ever presume to comment on someone else's treatment. We all know that pancreatic cancer is the deadliest form of cancer and the effects are devastating to the patient and the family. Out of respect for his family, you should have said nothing. I remember your lack of sensitivity after John Ritter's sudden death a few years back so this is typical of you. Please learn from this and don't say anything else.

There is nothing to be angry about her comments. They were hers and she was saying them in a supposedly private conversation. The truth is chemotherapy is poison, just read the warnings they give you. They don't give chemotherapy to pancreatic patients to cure, they will never say they. They use the terms response rate and it is what they call pallative care. To say chemo can cure pancreatic cancer is wrong. The truth is there are limited number of cancers that respond to chemotherapy. Most of the time they don't even test your cancer against the chemotherapy to see if it responds to that specific regimen. I believe in truth on both sides. The rights of the patient to make their own decision if all the options are on the table, not just those they thing is suitable. I've met more people who have been afflicted by cancers caused by chemotherapy, people who have died because of damage done to their heart. Know the risks and make your own decisions.
I know all this because my own husband was given two months diagnosed with stage IV right out of the gate after he had an injury at work that was not related. That was two months if he got chemo. After he had radiation, which now he wished he had't because of the damage it did, he has lived six months thus far in very good health with both tumors dormant. He battles the side effects of the radiation daily. Blood work and liver function is almost totally normal.
He was called back into the oncologist office to tell him his cancer was even more aggressive than thought as they tested it and it was her 2 positive, they offered chemo again. My husband bluntly asked if I took the chemo, would he be better off health wise either way, than he was now? The doctor thought a minute and said no, the chemo would leave him in worse health no matter what the response rate and this time they said it would give him 3 months. No logic there.
So when someone speaks as Suzanne did, it wasn't with malice, it was with love and a personal sentiment. We all have a tendency to second guess for a better outcome. This was just bad journalism integrity to not disclose their intent. I for one am extremely glad Suzanne shared her own story. I realize it won't help everyone, but if it helps one with this dreaded disease it is enough. Thank you Suzanne for helping us understand we had options and we were smart enough to choose the path we take for therapy.

Suzzanne, I support you and your viewpoint and words. I have been involved in holistic medicine for 46 years. I was so happy to find you on shop NBC. I love you. My husband died of colon cancer May 19th,05. The cancer did not kill him but the chemo did. His own Dr. told him that "this cancer will not kill you". No but the chemo & radiation did. The last resort was a new drug. This is what killed him. As he lay in the ER, the Dr. said"I will never give you that drug again'. And you know what? he never did, he died very shortly thereafter.Somebody needs to speak out about this terrible poison & i guess is has to be you. Am I angry? Yes, i wish I would have known what i know today.Thanks for speaking out.

Suzanne, I lost my father to colon cancer in 1975, at the age of 57. I lost a daughter, aged 36, just over a year ago, to cervical cancer. I understand your concern about the chemotherapy chemicals they inject into your body, trying to rid the body of the cancer cells. But the fact is, that poison does in fact kill the good cells along with the cancer cells. When the oncologist met with the family at the end of her scheduled treatment period, he recommended no further treatment, except to medicate her for her pain. He then made the statement, "Any further chemotherapy treatments would be CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT TO HER". My immediate thoughts ask, well, what about the last six months that you have been pumping this stuff into her veins. We really tried to get her to change her diet and eat more healthy things that would have helped her, but the final choice was hers. She choose the surgery and chemotherapy. Nine days after the meeting with the oncologist, she was gone.

I have to comment about Suzanne's remarks and many of those that have followed. I am a 10 year breast cancer survivor and I work as a patient navigator in a large cancer center. I think it was very insensitive of Suzanne to make the remarks she did about Patrick Swayze as she is not a doctor and didn't know what treatments he tried. Also the remark about the chemo killing him not the cancer is absurd, hello? do you know anything about pancreatic cancer? It is one of the dealiest cancers and believe me the cancer was going to kill Patrick and soon, as we do not have good treatments or preventative screening tests although we are seeing that there is some genetic connection between pancreatic cancer and others. Melanie makes some great points in that there are many types of breast cancer, and many treatments for it too, and so much research has gone into breast cancer so that we women have better options and treatments. Some of this is due to the fact that women fought for more research and screenings for breast cancer and part is because so many now survive breast cancer and they become advocates for research and more, whereas patients with the more deadly cancers are just trying to survive and many do not survive long enought to be advocates. There are many more cancers like that including lung: stomach: certain brain cancers and ovarian. Please do not chastise people for chosing the treatment they think is best for them, and for all of you who think doctors don't want to use other treatments, that is not true. For most doctors they have to use the treatments that are scientifically proven and that is usually always chemo, and radiation. Not herbs, not nutrition and not mega doses of vitamins and coffee enemas etc. That's just the facts. I am shocked that women still ignore huge masses in their breasts, or worse wait till the tumor is growing out through the skin of their breast. So we have a lot of work to do to educate all people about the signs, the risks, reducing the risks, screenings for and of cancers. So I think Suzanne and others need to go and visit some of these people and get a real picture of cancer.

Suzanne, I totally agree with your statement about chemo. I really don't think the cancer treatment in this country does anything but kill the person! In this country they have no clue about healing they just want to fill your body with pills and send you on your way! My father had esophageal cancer and fault it for 3 years. I wish I knew then what I know now. Maybe he would still be with us. Americans have to open their eyes and start taking care of THEMSELVES!

It is obvious that Suzanne was talking about the Medical profession and not the family when she made that comment. She is right about that barbaric treatment. Chemo kills. It's pure poison. You can not heal the body by poisoning it. The family should not take it personally. Many people desperately cling to whatever their medical doctors tell them. Unless they are prepared and really understand healing, they make choices out of fear. It's very sad but its NOT about blaming the family for having misguided faith in the medical profession; its about the quackery of modern medicine. God bless the Swayze family. Suzanne, I beleive as you do, that building the immune system, trying all alternatives and not giving chemicals, chemo or radiation which only kills all the good cells is the route to take. I am sure Patrick tried everything, but this is a killer disease. If he had not changed his personal care, body washes, everything he puts in and on his body, and cleaning chemicals used in the home, then its almost failsafe he could get worse.

Dealing with disease is difficult for everyone--the patient, their family, and their doctors. Physicians know that the chemotherapy drugs which "poison" the cancer cells also will be poisonous to the healthy cells. They hope that, through research, they can identify those which will poison the cancer cells more than the healthy ones. They have made amazing strides and discoveries in prolonging people's lives. And at times, they indeed only prolong people's suffering. This is never their goal.

Chemotherapy is not pleasant for anyone but, for many patients, it is how they choose to fight in this life. To state that doctors "took this beautiful man and put poison in him", you do a disservice to a country that admires you, and values your opinion. Your experience with your cancer and your doctors is not everyone's experience.

There is a time and a place for chemotherapy. To prolong a comfortable life is a noble cause. To prolong someone's suffering is not. By calling chemotherapy a poison, you make this complicated and very personal decision seem simple. It is not.

Your apology is warm and heartfelt. I am certain his family knows you did not mean to cause any hurt to them.

Hi there!
I just wanted to say a few words, I lost my dad 15 years ago to cancer. Still feels like it was yesterday. He did not get any treatment other than being sent home with morphin.3 months later he died. So when Patrick Swayze sadly passed away, I started to read about cancer and other treatments besides chemo etc. I found something called B17 vitamin and apricots kernell, have you heard about this?
"The Hunza has no known incidence of cancer. They have an abundant crop of apricots." These they dry in the sun and use largely in their food".

experienced cancer I can say the view is a kaleidescope when looking at choices and treatments.
Ultimately it is the patient who makes that final call, whether it be chemo, surgery or wait and see. And we as that support system are obligated to give that
unconditional support.
Because of your station in this life, your words will be viewed by the world,

Many people take a major hit for telling the truth. I am a Georgia Registered Nutrition Consultant and I sat at my table and cried while I was studying for the exam. I won't even begin to mention what I learned because people believe only what they want to believe. I will say this. It is terrifying to know how disease is transported into our bodies just by taking a hot shower. It is almost as if we are meant to get sick, just so we can keep the medical industry in dollars! Many people won't want to hear that. Yet, it is true.

It is basically the Devil giving you 2 or more choices on "Ok-choose which way do you want to die" You not realizing the Devil comes to kill steal and destroy. We formulate drugs to keep the person alive long enough in their disease until they eventually die from it. I don't like it, but that's the nature of the Beast."

I stood there with validation that all my personal research that I have made concerning the "Disease Mainainance System" answered. Proof from someone from the inside willing to admit to me that they are not looking for cures. WAKE UP America. WAKE up world. We are being raped and murdered for profit. Every pharmaceutical drug passed is a billion dollars in the bank for pharma. To hell with your rights and well being is what this system is saying. NOTE: Many pharmaceutical companies are also Foreign owned. So to add we have Germany, Canada and a few more countries profitting from our pain. Do your own research on Merck who admitted that there was HIV in there vaccines. Millions contracted AIDS from tainted vaccines. Me- Ooops, how did that get in there. He even gave a smerk grin in his interview with this revelation. The rabbit hole goes so deep people that many are afraid to look.

It's interesting to read this:

I guess a casual conversation at a party with a reporter who did not reveal themselves is now considered an interview?

My Dad had Colon Cancer and was diagnosed as terminal. A clinical trial that included chemotherapy saved his life. I often wondered though if they were doing the right thing. He's in full remission but still on the chemo, but I still question if what he needs now is to get off that stuff and make his body strong and healthy so it doesn't come back. While he handles it well, it still can't be the best thing for him long-term.

I totally understand why people are shook up about your conversation with the "reporter" but I also sympathize that #1 things are often taken out of context and #2 to chastise you for something you said when you did not know you were being interviewed is backwards - they should be yelling at the "reporter".

Your quotes are all over the internet. Can they quote you like that if you don't know you are being interviewed? Not that it's anything new, but it doesn't seem right.

Unfortunately you are making a broad statement that covers your own personal experience and not everyone who has ever battled cancer. Not every body responds the same. I speak from experience with a friend who tried to naturally rid her body of cancer and came close to death. Only when she turned to the medical profession for help did she undergo chemo treatments and made a remarkable recovery. She is now in remission. It is unfair for you to judge what choices people make without the knowledge of the road they took to get there.

Shame on you. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. You should not criticize the decisions that Patrick and his wife made. What is your point? To make Lisa feel guilty? To make this more difficult for her and the rest of Patrick's family? I'm sure they made what they thought was the best decision for them at the time. I actually agree with many of the points you make about chemo, but when a family is suffering a loss, it is not the time to criticize and question the choices that they made. When you treated your breast cancer, you did what you thought was right. I'm sure that Patrick and Lisa did what they thought was right as well.

First, my deepest condolences to Lisa Niemi and the Swayze family. Patrick Swayze was first and foremost a devoted husband and family man, secondly a hometown Houston boy that remained humble even though his fame was world-wide. The sad loss of Patrick is only slightly softened by the legacy of love and memories he left his wife, family and friends and the wonderful movies he left to his legions of fans.

Second, every celebrity knows that every word, every deed, every action they take is constantly being crutinized by everyone. They are under scrutiny by their fans and those who can profit from anything the celebrity does or says, particularly profitible are their mistakes. Caution and diplomacy should always be tools used by all of us, but most especially those that have chosen to live in a fish bowl called "celebrity."

Suzanne, your apology was well written and seems sincere. Obviously, you feel passionate about your causes and have had your own experience with cancer and the treatment options available in your case. It is also apparent that you do speak out about your personal beliefs and what you believed contributed to your healing. But, please understand that not everyone shares your beliefs or your passions. Also, try to understand that public comments can often cause harm or leave one feeling very uncertain about the decisions that they may have made, whether for themselves or on behalf of their loved one. Having been the primary care-taker for my own beloved younger sister who lost a 15 month battle to Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, I know that one of the hardest thing a person can do is to see the suffering of a loved one and question every decision made with respect to the best treatments and the best care for a loved one. I believe in my heart that all of us who have personally suffered the loss of a loved one or who have experienced any type of terminal illness will always question the "what if's." But, ultimately, the most important thing after a loss is to be cognizant of your words and always be compassionate and gracious with your comments to anyone with respect to that loss, whether you are a celebrity or just a "regular person." Comments may be taken out of context, but the pain of those comments is still a lingering after-effect, especially when the pain of a personal loss is so deeply raw.

It is not pointed at anyone or thier family when I say that I personally believe that poisonous radiation and chemo are outdated.
I am far from alone in this opinion.
I believe that Ms Sommers was correct in her statement and owes no opology.
She is simply right.
I lost my father and a sister in law to cancer. Both had all the radiation and chemo they could take. I believe if they had opted to fight it in a natural way,
They might have survived.

Dear Angel; You only said what so many thought. As soon as I saw how drawn and emaciated Patrick looked lately I knew that the chemo was killing him. Also a survivor of cancer I chose not to use chemo . I also beleive that the best cure for cancer is your own immune system. My prayer is that more people will seek food as their medicine, perhaps it was part of the divine plan for you to say what you did and for this controversy to ensue. Do not despair, you have helped to bring to the surface somthing that some many want to bury. I think that Whoppi was out of place to call you down on a national tv program, it is not fair for her to use The View as her own platform and venue against anyone. I commend your stand and comments on the misleadings of chemotherapy, although i understand your regret for it possibly hurting patricks family, people NEED to stand up and talk about this. I have perhaps said a few too many times to the wrong people of how chemo is a death sentence, my grandfather suffered through bladder and colon cancer and bouts of chemo with both. It wasnt until his fatal brain cancer diagnosis that he sought alternative treatments that CURED him. He is one of 4 people I know personally who sought alternative treatments and have lived LONG LONG fruitful lives and did not suffer through their treatment but rather gained strength and quality of life with every passing day while in treatment. Speak up people, it can save lives everywhere.

I do not see any harm to Suzanne's words, she was speaking the truth. Chemo therapy is poison....it is toxic to purposefully kill aggressive cancer cells. Hello. I do agree with you when it come to treatments of cancer . I can not believe what the medicine is doing in pursuing harsh treatments which actually hurt only and not help . I have known people who have gone through chemo and people who tried to take care of it a more natural way like building their bodies up nutritionally and tried to rid their bodies of the toxins, which sadly enough they didn't make it. And although this may have worked for you it does not work for everyone and I feel it's irresponsible of you to preach what you preach. My mother is a 30 year breast cancer survivor. She went through 18 months of chemo and several months of radiation and she would do it the same way again if needed. My best friend lost her 42 year old sister a month ago from doing it the way you suggest...she has colon cancer which spread to her liver and eventually kidney's. Chemo is needed is most cases of cancer....and it's been proven to be a better choice for cancer treatment.

After reading comments about your statement of the untimely death of Patrick Swayze, I too hope and pray that the medical profession would search diligently for other forms of cancer treatment. No one gets out of this life alive (depending on your spiritual beliefs), and we all have choices. My concern is health care and the options we face every day. Many valued people do not have insurance and desperately need help, not only from the medical profession. I desperately believe this country was set up for it's people to have choices with dignity. I want my options open when it comes my time to consider serious health care choices for my health. Too bad we have to fall prey to the guise of the media at times. Too bad we cannot express our experiences without others feeling directly impacted as if attacked. What is the intention/motivation behind someone's heartfelt comment? Susan I fully understand what you were trying to say. And I agree with you. It is poison and chemotherapy kills more then the cancer. It weakens you and makes it easier for the cancer to take charge. I know it is suppose to kill off the cancer cells, but what else does it kill? Trying to fight it nutritionally is something that scares people, they believe what the doctors tell them, an do what they say. Which is why they get weaker and weaker. How many times have we heard that the medicine doctors give you help with one things, only cause another problem, which the doctor has a pill to help with that too! Then you wind up take several different pills. Or how the medicine they give cause liver damage or even death. We here in the United States are a nation of PILLS! Most people that are on them do not even need them in the first place. No matter what is wrong with you, they have a pill to fix it!

The remarks you made regarding Patrick Swayze are right on target. Doctors and the Pharmaceutical companies try to convince us all that only medications and surgery will make us well, when, in reality, the pharmaceuticals are, in my humble opinion, responsible for more sickness and death than disease itself. It has been proven that natural treatments can heal, and that often the contraindications of many drugs are more harmful than helpful.
I myself, use H2O2 maintenance therapy. Totally natural and occurring in the human body as well as nature. I NEVER get ill, nor do I go to the doctor. The 'One Minute Cure' is phenomenal, and, as a matter of fact, I was desperately searching the internet for a way to contact Mr. Swayze for the past couple months in hopes to get him on this protocol, but, as you must know, generally it is impossible to contact a celebrity directly.
Patrick Swayze was a wonderful talent and we will all miss him.

I think this was really taken out of context. This was not an interview or statement she was giving to the media. We all have our personal thoughts and should not be judged on them . Even with Michael Jackson, as sad as it is I may say to a friend the man was a druggie but that doesn't mean Im insensitive or think he wasn't a good person or a great singer. It saddens me deeply to hear of another loss from pancreatic cancer. My husband, who was only 33 at the time of his death of this disease, fought hard to overcome this illness. I understand you had your struggle with cancer, but each family has to make a choice of treatment for themselves. We sought out the top doctors in this field of cancer and for 8 months my husband did well. The odds of beating pancreatic cancer are very slim.
Please be more aware of what you are saying and in the questioning of how a person decides to be treated for this illness or any other.

We are all humans and we all say things and sometimes it it said or taken differently than intended. Therefore, we need to be careful and think about it before we speak. Then the chances of this happening just WON'T happen.
Patrick S. was a wonderful person/actor, I loved his movies and he will be missed.
I come from a family with lots of different types of cancer and it is the patients choice for their treatment. We are waiting now to see if my husband has anal/colon cancer. If he does, he WILL be the one to choose his treatment, not me, not his mother,not his brothers & not our children! If I were to ever get or find out I have cancer, I would be rather careful of the treatment{s} I would choose I am a big fan of Naturpathic/Homopathic I also believe that no matter what we choose sooner or later we die because cancer will eat its way through Yes, there are cures for cancer but we will never get to use them because there are many people that would be unemployed as with other diseases I admire his wife and brother for taking the responsibility of doing the in home hospice care that takes a lot of love and attention to do that I am still a fan of you and your business products in spite of all of this publicity

What you said is so true, if it isnt the cancer then it certainly could be the treatment. But everyone knows that medical doctors are only able to treat with medicine and most people really do not educate themselves regarding nutrition and what fuels the body with good health. Lets face it we are all forced into very busy schedules to maintain an american lifestyle we want and are used too! We leave everything up to the experts who we really do not know much about!! A few doctors venture off into holistic healing and some combine the two. And we eat what we buy hoping it is filled with lots of nutrition!! The problem is what we eat is not! And then there are the studies and then they become so contraversol at one point! All I can say is that I beleive it is really about preventive care because once you are sick the battle begins and we reach for hope in our doctors and pray they all know how to heal us. So if "you" really have beneficial information would you please stand up and teach it to us! I know you share your experience on breast cancer and we all know treatments effect differently but maybe your doctors could start a wellness alternative to conventional medicine and share the powers of nutrition healings! I realize Suzanne's intentions were good, and yes - we are far too saturated with chemicals in our food, our air, our "everywhere" - but I have to say that one of the most difficult things in sharing the last months of my dear brother's life with his family, was making all the informed, difficult (horrific, really) decisions, with him, near and at the end. Once they found he had Pancreatic Cancer, it had already spread and was deemed terminal. We had lost our mother and an uncle to the disease, and knew something about this kind of cancer. We did what we could, but with all the kind bravado we could muster, we all prepared for the best kind of comfort care and quality life available to us, this with the help of hospice. You know, there is a great deal to 'preparing' oneself and other loved ones, in any measure, for acceptance. When one well-meaning friend suggested we that we couldn't just 'give up', and try yet one more holistic 'cure', it sent me, personally, into a wracking flood of guilt and confusion. I finally realized that what she was suggesting was akin to not winning a lottery because I didn't buy a ticket. It would have been cruel to offer one more painful or devastating 'fight' to the mix, when he himself had gallantly accepted his circumstance, and had, by his acceptance, shared nothing but gratitude for the fine life he had been blessed to live. There are stages of fight and stages of acceptance. THere are some things 'wheat grass and vitamins' can't fix.

You've had your own experiences and you did what worked for you. Many people though face diagnoses of all levels of cancer every single day and they search their very hardest to get the best answers and treatments possible for them - your statements may potentially send people in other directions - can you live with that?

Suzanne, maybe you didn't know you were being interviewed, you made a mistake, I think you apologized respectably. I also think you should educate yourself about what cancer is, why chemotherapy is currently the most effective treatment, and about current scientific research that is being conducted on the subject, before you chose to chat about it at your next cocktail party.

My main reason to leave a comment is that some of the people who commented on your blog astounded me with their ignorance.

Quoting Renata above "There are numerous case studies that show that cancer can be healed using raw food and proper nutrition. There are even centers that have been treating cancer naturally and without using chemo for years."

I've been through four years of undergraduate premed, 4 years of medical school, and 3 more years to gain my speciality, oncology (which is the branch of medicine dealing with cancer and tumors), and I have never once encountered such a study. If you could post a link to one, or let me in on what scientific journal may contain one, I would love to be enlightened.

If any of you would actually like to know any real scientific evidence, Cancer is a disordered regulation of tissue growth. A normal cell can transform into a cancerous cell for many reasons, most of them involve a mutation in either the oncogenes which may be either normal genes which are expressed at very high levels, or altered genes which have unique properties. Either way, expression of these genes causes the malignant phenotype of cancer cells. Tumor suppressor genes are genes that inhibit cell division, survival, or other properties of cancer cells. Tumor suppressor genes are often disabled by cancer-promoting genetic changes, leaving the cell unable to limit it's cell division, the cell with the mutation rapidly divides and a tumor is created.

Yes, chemo may be tough on the body, but understandably so. It is not a perfect cure, and I highly doubt that any person knowledgeable about oncology would ever say it was. Most chemotherapeutic drugs work by inhibiting cell division specifically in fast-dividing cells. These drugs generally target cells that are in the M stage of the cell cycle (which is when cells divide). Some of these drugs cause cells to undergo apoptosis (so-called "programmed cell death"). Unfortunately, as of now, researchers have yet to be able to identify specific features of tumor cells that they could use to directly target cancerous cells alone. Meaning although the drugs will target the quickly dividing cancer cells, they will also target other fast-dividing cells such as those needed for replacement of the intestinal lining, for hair growth, etc.

Reading people's post on this issue, I was truely disappointed at how ignornant my peers are. Many people, myself included, have dedicated their lives to cancer research and treatment. For you to comment that it is an "industry" or some mere corporation to make money is absurd. Thousands of people have been saved due to scientific breakthroughs that took years of dedication, and yes millions of dollars. Do you really believe that these scientists and doctors would knowlingly feed patients "poison" when they could just walk to their neighborhood natural foods store, buy them some raw vegetables and *POOF* no more cancer? Please educate yourselves about cancer(what it is, how it is treated, and why it is treated in this manner)have some scientific proof to back up your words before you run your mouth. I entered this field, not for money, but because at the age of 7 I was diagnosed with Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)and after years of suffering, chemotherapy pushed me into remission and I vowed I would enter the field of cancer research, to save more lives, like mine was saved. I have experienced cancer from both a medical point of view and a very very personal one, and for those of you speaking of "the cancer industry" you are disrespecting every person who has survived cancer, their families who stood by their side as they went through it, and the people who have dedicated their entire lives to curing this tragic disease.

I actually appreciate her saying that, because it made me think about what I would do if I were in Patrick's shoes. I don't know the validity of chemotherapy but I am now curious to know more.

The only thing I am not happy about is is participating in the Toronto Film Festival glorifying a state created by ethnically cleansing the Palestinians off their own land. All the celebrities are afraid to stand up for what is right when it comes to Israel.

After reading all of the above comments arguing the the pros and cons of chemo vs alternative treatments for cancer, I'd like to share with you and your readers a story with a happy ending. It will be fifteen years this November that my father had major surgery - a 'Whipple' procedure for those who are familiar - to remove his pancreatic cancer, which also had spread to one of his lymph nodes as well. He was jaundiced beyond belief before surgery with mild abdominal pain. Afterwards, had to be re-opened for internal bleeding, eventually needing 19 units transfused into him, developed infection and sepsis from the catheter that was inserted and tore his urethra prior to starting his first surgery. Thirty-four days later he did go home. He eventually received chemo (5-FU) and radiation to his abdomen. Five months later he was on the golf course and shot his first hole-in-one! This March I am thrilled to say he will celebrate his 87th birthday. Miracles DO happen.

In regards to your quote, opinion, comments. Whatever you have said or say in the near future about the subject will not bring Patrick back. It breaks my heart that he is gone. Cancer comes in all forms. Your 'natural' treatment without Chemo worked for you but maybe wouldn’t have worked for Patrick if he would have chosen that road. You are wrong for saying such words. And as Whoopie put it, 'in bad timing' to ever say something to this degree whether you thought it was in good taste, it simply wasn't. The 'beautiful man' as you stated is in heaven now. And as Donny said in his above post, you are making it seem with your quote that Patrick in all do respect 'died in vain' because of your opinion of the 'wrong' treatment choice he made. Like he didn't do the right thing or he didn't make the right choice to go with chemo. My heart aches so much for Lisa and his family for such words to be said towards a wonderful human being who is no longer here to tell you himself. He did the best he could in an awful situation. What he believed would help him or what & who he believed in would help him was his choice & not for you to judge. And it was what he felt in his heart to be the right course of action. He fought a hard battle. As I said, Cancer comes in all forms. His was not like yours. Pancreatic Cancer is as you know the most deadliest of cancers. Having just completed chemo for breast cancer I know the good it does. For me to have not taken this route would surely have been a death sentence. Sorry for those of you who feel that the chemo killed. The cancer would have killed. Life style changes are definitely a must too but not enough for all.

People should mind there own business when it comes to what is best for anyone person. It is a personal decision - keep yours to yourself.

Who is not for good nutrition? But to assume that a person has cancer is because they are nutritionally dificient is naive. Taking the Nutritional supplement route to treat cancer not only provides healthy cells with all the proper building blocks to "fight" off the cancer it also provides the cancer cells with all the fuel and buidling blocks to multiply.

There are cancer victims that took the nutritional/holistic route based on outrageous claims of the miracle cure only to end up dead.

Provide scientific references that support a nutrional only approach to cancer treatment and perhaps we can have a real dialogue otherwise its just someone selling and idea and personally profiting from it.

I dont think you said anything wrong about patrick,Its very sad for his family,but I have to agree. My mother and my grandmother both died of cancer.
They doctors told us with my mom could have had the cancerous tumor for 15 years.They set up sergery to remove the tumer withhout doing a biopsy first. when oxegen hits the cancer it spreads very fast,they started chemo,and 6 months later she died. sometimes not only is it the chemo that can hurt out loved ones,but sergery before finding out if cancer is there. some of these deaths could be prevented.

As much as I love Whoppi, it is my belief like you said, it's the chemo that killed him and not the cancer. She kind of missed the whole point. It does not matter if the person was a reporter, what matters is that you told the truth. Chemo breaks your system down. I just lost a friend yesterday, two in July of this year, two last year all of them basically had a different kind of cancer. Once they started the chemo they went down quickly. What are the odds of that happening? There is no need for you to apologize.

I think Suzanne Sommers is perfectly correct in her assessment of the situation. Chemotherpy is a voodoo mideveal Theodoric of York treatment that kills almost everybody who goes for it. Oncologist is a fancy word for "morticians" helper.

I saw a video that said that the cancer industry has taken in $7 trillion in the last 20 years. On the same video it pointed out that the Rockerfellers hold the patents.

If you come up with a cure for cancer, they'll never find your body.

I read some of the comments posted here and have to wonder if you people realize what she said about chemo is very true.Chemo is deadly it ended up killing my sister eating away at her neck making it cause a hole in her neck she was only 49 years old. Suzanne ignore the negative remarks. My mother beat breast cancer and has been cancer free for 21 years Praise Jesus. I do not give any praise to doctors because it was by the grace of the Lord that healed her.

I am so very very proud of how you handled this situation. I know for certain that you did not mean anything negative with your comments. I know this and I do not even know you personally. However, my family has a history of Cancer and my mother just died of Pancreatic Cancer. Having experienced the death of over 10 close family members due to Cancer, I take the same position that you take. I read your books and I am doing my best to follow the same bio-identical approach. Your recommendations were the only ones that could help me. Unfortunately the system is structured where the cost is a little to much for me, especially in the current economy. As such, I have had to wait and restructure my budget before I can afford to pay a doctor as unfortunately my insurance will not cover the alternative medicines and bio-identical products that I need. I assure you, that I will be back on course following the same path that you are following and as outlined in your book. This is a touchy situation and conversation. At least everyone somehow whether it be themselves or someone they know has been touched by some type of cancer. The truth is the doctors who treat our cancers have no other real good treatments to administer other than radiation therapy and chemo. Everyday we watch a million commercials that are put on TV by the pharmacutical companies pushing every single drug known to man which truly makes me sick just having to continuously watch them over and over. If what you propose Suzanne is something real and can heal the millions who suffer with cancer, why aren't you out there promoting it in commercials or ads in magazines or some other form of advertisement? Why haven't you been able to get Dr. Oz who is well known, or Sanjay Gupta who is well known behind you? You need some backing.....I only see you on Larry King every so often talking about your therapies and what has worked for you. People need information. They need a place to go for help and right now, we can only hope out doctors have the knowledge to give us treatments they feel can heal us. We the People have no where else to go for good non medical treatments like what you propose. Do you think your taken seriously or is this all just an avenue of income for you? I am not sure, but I certainly don't believe that you have done everything you could to promote and make your beliefs some average Joe's reality.

I would be very interested to know how many people who made comments regarding Somer's comments actually have any experience with the treatment of cancer and the overwhelming effects the disease has over all aspects of life. I worked in a hematology/oncology ward and I can guarantee that all doctors and healthcare providers I worked with fought with all they had for these patients.  Just because you have had a relative who died of cancer doesn't mean you are well versed in how to fight the disease.  YOU SHOULD BE and should take an active part in their care.  If you don't believe they are recieving the correct care, SPEAK OUT. Don't wait to mourn over it later.  Chemotherapy and radiation may not be the absolute answer but have their place in the treatment of cancer.  Holistic and nutritional therapies also have their place in the fight against cancer.  It is hardly a one dimensional disease.  When will people start taking responsibility for themselves and their well being.  Doctors are well educated but are not infallible especially when they are working with a human body which is not the same from one person to the next nor predictable nor exact as we would like to assume.  We are all different and the best we can do for each other and ourselves is to try our best.  Please excuse me Ms. Somers but we should all think before we speak and be sure we can back up what we say before we say it.

Dear Suzanne and others please read and heed. Dr. Otto Warburg in about 1920 discovered the cause of Cancer. It is a lack of oxygen in the cell. He and others documented this many times over 40 years. Dr. Warburg could not find a way to supply the oxygen to prevent or stop Cancer. Dr. Warburg was awarded 2 Nobels in Medicine. Dr. Warburg was one of the best doctors in the world then and now. His discovery was either forgot or hidden so other research could be funded to find a cure.
Enter Professor Brian Peskin. Professor Peskin discovered the work of Dr. Warburg and another interesting research study.
The research that he found was that Radiation Cancer could be prevented in patients getting radiation therapy for Cancer by taking Omega 6 oils 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after radiation treatment.
This research had been known for several years.
The researchers never connected with the fact this was preventing Cancer.
Professor Peskin found that Omega 6 oils are required for the cells to use oxygen.
This was the final link that Dr. Warburg and others almost 90 years ago could not find.
Omega 6 oils are abundant in our food. Most authorities will tell you that you do not need Omega 6 oils you only need Omega 3.
Again Professor Peskin researched some more and found that most of the Omega 6 oils in our diet have been destroyed from food processing.
I had Prostate Cancer that was determined by a biopsy. After following the information in Professor Peskins book I do not have Cancer now. Again this was by a biopsy.

Its interesting reading all your comments. As usual, the media likes to blow things out of proportion. I was watching the view when Whoopi made the statement about Suzanne & I was really upsdet that Suzanne would make a comment like that until I did further research and found out that Whoopi's interpretation was way out of proportion as to what Suzanne said. In truth, and after loosing several family members and friends to cancer, one truly learns that what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. It depends on what stage cancer you have, what other illnesses you may have, such as diabetes, your crrent health in general,etc. This all effects your course of treatment. It also depends on if a person wants quantity of life or quality of life? When you are knocking at deaths door, this decision comes hard for everyone involved. And yes nutrition does play a major role but I have yet to see anyone cured from cancer by nutrition alone. I am in the process of writing my own book about cancer as My husband was ill with cancer/heart disease & diabetes for seven years. Believe me, it was a miracle that he lived so long, but I believe it was because we focused on multiple treatments. Anyone who knows about the cancers, knows that pancreatic cancer is very severe and is often not detected until stage 3/4. Remember Michael Landon?

I know that you did not mean what you said about his treatment but you were propertly angry and were thinking that he may had better chance if he chose hollistic treatment than chemo. Yes, he made his choice and it was sad that the cancer took his life. We all sad about it but to blame you for saying it, it is not fair. I enjoy both you and Patrick rising to your sucess and admire you both for your talent. I don't believe for a second that you would meant any harm to him. Yes, we sometimes speak before we think but maybe the frustration of people not understanding the damage that chemo can harm you vs. hollistic or healthy nutrition. For Patrick, I am sure either way still would be too late for him. I hope people would just move on, let his family mourn for his passing and cheerish the good moment that they had with him. I hope these people live you alone soon because I agree with some of the people comments earlier, don't you have better things to say or do but waisting your time on hurting people????

Warburg won the Nobel prize for his discovery of the respiratory enzyme and it's function WHILE he was doing research on tumors. This does not mean cancer cells dont contain enough oxygen.

Your honest comments about Patrick were an accident for the good of America. Thank you for exposing the farce that is the ACS and the AMA as it "treats" cancer patients. With proper nutrition, I survived level 2 melanoma myself. Now Americans might discover Dr Max Gerson, Dr Nicholas Gonzalez at Columbia University and Dr T Colin Campbell with his book The China Study.

It was good and kind to see the family of Patrick to speak out and help us also to learn to be forgiving! I appreciate your books and your deep care for people who want to get well! There are ones like us who will listen and take better paths to wellness. No matter how rich or how poor you are.... you would give up what you have to help family , friends and ourselves...

"CHEMO" has been around for 65 plus years - Gene Wilder had Basic "T" cell's from his basic blood done ( not embryonic "T" cells ) - that's about 7 years ago - however they had to destroy his body using "CHEMO" - you can eat well up too a point - again cancer cells loved being fed good old fashioned food and they continue to multiply - once having cancer your only choice is to destroy it,because it is now part of you - "CHEMO" is poison - kill the body to save it - it's a catch-22 - this may be the best treatment for the Patrick Swayze's of the world including Farrah Fawcett - these are not approachable people by a long-shot - unlisted phone number's/stealth to keep the idiot's away - this is a closest I've seen to a real treatment once you discover you've got Cancer - http://kanziuscancerresearch.com - the real big business "boy's" don't want it.

You don't save your diseased body by putting POISON into it! I don't care how dedicated some in the industry may be or seem to be. It is a money making machine. You absolutely have every right to choose to poison your body or not.

I have a friend dying from a rare cancer who was talked into chemo he never intended in the first place being suckered in that he will live longer.

The immune system needs to be strengthened not torn down. Stars killed by chemo are miracles for surviving as long as they did in spite of being strategically poisoned. I am a melanoma survivor that refused all supposed "treatment" including being told to abort my daughter who will be 22 in 9 days. Until folks get free of the fear, clear decisions can't be made. I refused to let fear be in charge of my decisions and if you want to be in charge, you must remove yourself from the doctors who will use that fear for all it's worth to direct your decisions.

A person has a right to express an opinion privately and the "they" are the medical profession/medical profession's lies, NOT the family who were only respecting Patrick's decision. This was turned loose by the "reporter" and Whoopi. Patrick Swayze was a fabulous man, actor and dancer. He deserves better than this from friend Whoopi and a low life "reporter". And always keep in mind, we all have a time to die. Unfortunately for those of us still in the physical realm, this was Patrick's time. He is pain free and dancing with the angels. Godspeed Patrick. You are missed. <3

I think so, too, that chemotherapy only worsens someone's condition. I know this is usually recommended by doctors... but deep inside, I think chemotherapy is not that helpful sometimes. Chemicals entering your body, and wait, I read the definition in Wikipedia... Chemotherapy destroys cells, both good and bad.

All cancers are not the same. You can't "build up" someone with a gastrointestinal cancer; they have a hard enough time trying to absorb any kind of nutrition at all.

My husband died of pancreatic cancer. I spent an entire year devoted to doing everything to making him survive. If there was anything in the "alternate" field that had worked, I would've known about it.

There wasn't anything. It's simply a lie to believe all cancers are alike. They obviously aren't.

If more women got pancreatic cancer in the number they get breast cancer, there might be some actual cures that work, or at least a means for early detection.

But "only" 33,000 people die of this disease every year in the US. I guess it's not enough. And now with ObamaCare around the bend, this neglected, almost 100 percent fatal cancer will be even more of a death sentence.

I love all the work you are doing for all of us...I always tell my Boyfriend "Suzanne is my mentor"
I was in for colon hydrotherapy last week and was talking to the women who I see regularly for the treatment. Patrick had just passed away (sadly) I said to her "I have to wonder with Patrick & with Farrah if things would have been different had they not had to fill their bodies with the chemicals of chemotherapy". I have studied wellness and anti aging endlessly - it was nothing more than an innocent thought, I'm no pro on the topic. You are an amazing and loving and wonderful person - sorry this happened in Toronto (where I live)... but the positive for me is I found your blog because of this, so thank you and we love you at my house xo

Do not apologize for your comment! I agree with you completely. I lost my mother last October to cancer. I truly believe that had she not gone through the horrible chemo that injected her with poison, she would have stayed with us a little longer than she did and lived a better life. THe chemo made her violently ill and to the point she would cry not to be taken in the chemo room - would beg me. And I would tell her poor sweet soul that it was the only way she could get better. We only had four months of chemo after the diagnosis to spend with her before she withered up and became a shell of the strong woman she was before dying in her bed one night in excruciating pain.

Suzanne, you've been a celebrity for several decades. Have you not learned that anything you say to anybody has the strong possibility of being leaked to the press?

I know you are strong in your convictions about alternative medicines, and I agree with many of them, but perhaps in the future when you are having a conversation about a very recently deceased celeb, you'll remember this incident and simply say "its way too early for me to comment", or even "no comment".

I like Whoopi as well and though I think she was out of line too, her reaction mirrors how many people feel as Patrick was a good guy and she's grieving too.

Those nasty poisons have kept me alive for 7 yrs after an Ovarian Cancer diagnosis.....most women do not survive 5 yrs with this disease. You are VERY LUCKY that your choice of holistic medicine has served you. Most are not that lucky. It troubles me that someone with your celebrity/platform would make such a statement questioning the use of chemo. That keeps thousands of people alive......

I share your disdain for chemo therapy. I wish I had known what I know now when my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the late 1960.They ruined her quality of life with chemo and she died one day at time for over 6 months. That was very dificult for a 28 years old daughter to experience. My journey for these 40 last years has lead me to a strong belief in perception and emotional wellness along with a healthy diet, supplementation and exercise. Keep spreading the word. YOU GO GIRL.

Suzette, Treatments have changed a lot in almost 40 years since your mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer so don't judge by something that is outdated. Today we have medications that are disease specific and many many drugs to counter act side effects. I cannot believe how many of you think that doctors don't want to find cures or use other treatments! Doctors have to use what is scientfically proven to work, nothing else will do! All the natural meds, strange potions and vitamins and other things mentioned here have not been scientifically proven to work, that is just a fact. I have seen women who were using natural medications to try and cure their breast cancer, meanwhile the tumor gets larger or it grows right through the skin of the breast. Do you think that's better? Cancer is a very complicated disease, it's not one treatment fits all, nor are all cancers the same in their growth, their patterns of invading our bodies. So I advise some of you to study the science of cancer first. I have been around doctors all my adult life as a nurse and a patient and now a navigator and I know they would not purposely not treat patients with the best and most successful medicines available. The oncologist I work for is very open with patients, and gives them choices, she cannot make anyone come in a take chemo or anything else, she also tries to educate them as to the characteristic of their cancer so they understand what she is talking about. I'm sorry but I see many patients who are not the most educated of people who latch on to what they think will be the easiest way to treat their cancer. Yes chemo is poison, yes it kills good cells, but we don't have a choice right now and as we are able to create more targeted therapies that hit only the tumor cells then we will see less and less of the effects on good cells. However, those good cells recover, why do you think hair grows back after certain chemos? I beg you not to risk your lives on some other treatment that has not been proven to work. Get informed about cancers, all of them, see that treatment is not simple or easy whether it be chemo, radiation or oral hormonal therapies. I know and have many patients who would not be here if not for those treatments. Also once cancer spreads to another part of the body, for instance breast cancer once it spreads to the bone, is still breast cancer, not bone cancer. Once the cancer spreads it is metastatic and is not curable, but treatable. That is another wonderful thing, we have cancer patients who are living with cancer, and having quality of life. I'm getting tired of Whoopie Goldberg (of ALL people) being the "taste" police and using the narrow-minded "view" as a platform to do it.
Her comments are never based on facts, only her opinion. She doesn't feel that what Roman Polanski admitted to doing to a 13-year old girl (forced vaginal, rectal and oral sex against her will) was "rape" rape. HUH?? Read the grand jury transcripts, Ms. Goldberg.
I noticed the women at the "View" didn't bother to contact you to about your comments, perhaps to get the story straight before passing judgment on national television.
It was respectful that you apologized, Susanne. To bad you'll never get that respect from Whoopie Goldberg in return.

I just wanted to say I saw your interview on the Today Show today and wanted to comment that they gave more airtime for the story on the bubble boy than they did for this very important subject of the search for cancer cures. I know you do interviews for promoting your book( and admittedly I haven't bought one of your books and this is the first time I visited your site.) I don't have cancer either, but I wanted to say your a beautiful person for bringing an alternative to cancer survival and I hope you consider a PBS special to get the word out and have a bigger voice on this very important subject. I think PBS is the only place that allows you to inform the public through an unbias media. I am in no way affiliated with PBS, but I just think it's a good venue to help get your message out while helping an important media vehicle.

Suzanne, I personally know all about pancreatic cancer. My husband died within three mos. of diagnosis. He went in for surgery and they zipped him right back up. The next alternative was chemo for life. He didn't want that. He then researched and found Dr. Gonzales. We live in CA. and flew to NY for Dr. Gonzales. He said he was the perfect candidate for this protocol. We paid for all this treatment out of our own pocket about $5000. He took 240 pills/vitamins a day, did coffee enemas twice a day, injested oil and did various rubs , ate raw and organic food. He was 55. It only lasted about a month and half before he developed sites and was hospitalized trying to drain all of this from his body. He was dead 4 weeks later. Pancreatic cancer is so deadly and undetectable that your only good chance is surgery. I do not believe you meant any harm by your comments and your apology is appropriate but the natural way is not easy and I don't think that you can all of sudden decide to be ultra healthy at mid life and it will cure this deadly disease. Ultimately that is what my husband chose for himself and i stood with him though it wasn.t easy.it was his choice!

Suzanne, there is a wonderful, mind altering, truthful book entitled Ageless Living:Freedom From The Culture Of Death, which explains how a body is a hard thing to kill (short of bombs, gunshot etc) and that researching the body of spiritual and religious literature, the Author Mony Vital (www.Physicalimmortality.net) that nowhere, in any of that literature does it say we have to get sick, old and die. Our culture tells us we do and we believe it because we see so many examples all around us...but once we cancel our "death date", the day we program our bodies with, and start focusing on living and not dying, the sooner we break away from this false concept, and the sooner our bodies start to cooperate with that belief (as you believe, so shall it be done unto you)Because people don't know what we really are and what our minds (which we are) can do to our bodies (which we are not)we continue to create this destructive practice.

I feel so sorry for people who actually believe poisoning the patient is the best thing that's out there. The cures for cancer have been around since the 30's and actively suppressed. Search for the Royal Rife Microscope. You'll see. But that's not my point. I just get annoyed when I read uninformed people praising chemo. I should really say that I just feel sorry for them for being ignorant.

Cancer is not what you think it is. You can't fight cancer, but you can HEAL from it. Cancer and cancer equivalent diseases are our biological responses to stresses & shocking events in our lives that start tumors growing, but when the issue is resolved, our own fungii and bacteria rot the tumor away. The shock of being told you have cancer will cause your lungs to start growing cells in their biological attempt to increase capacity because you think you're going to die. If you calm down and realize you aren't going to die, your lungs will heal and encapsulate the cells if bacterial aren't available to break it down, but then it gets detected on an x-ray and you're told "It now spread to your lungs". NO!!! Cancer doesn't spread, don't you see? If it did, all the blood that is donated would be screened for cancer cells. If cancer spread, it would do so via blood, right? There's no other way. But it doesn't! Because cancer does not spread! Oh, please, PLEASE check out the website. There are very few books to read on the subject because just like Suzanne this kind of information is activelly suppressed. It will absolutely change your life and you will no longer have a fear of cancer. But you have to learn it BEFORE you get sick. The shock of a diagnosis can fill you with many tumors. Suzanne, just like Patrick had the freedom to choose what treatment he wanted for himself, you have the freedom to give your opinion about it. People don't necessarily have to like it, but this phony outrage is just ridiculous, and is an attempt to chill free speech. You have every right to say what you want without people telling you that you can't! It's pathetic that the shallow Hollywood crowd won't get as outraged about things that truly matter in this life.

Suzanne I agree DO NOT APOLOGIZE for what you know to be true.I lost my husband to cancer 21/2 years ago. He was 46 years old. Four months before he died my only son was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (leiomyosarcoma). He was 28 when he was diagnosed.He was given only months to live. I've been through 2 death panels. Having been given no hope for my son he decided to try other methods of treatment.he had 5 heart attacks, two strokes, lost a kidney and was told by the doctors that they didn't know why are how he was still here. He has survived for three years now, had his first and only baby and is back to work. This is due to God and the Natural medicines he placed on this earth.I know for a fact what you are saying is true. We Americans do live in a box. Our health care system does need to be reformed. This sould not be such a political issue.It is an AMERICAN PEOPLE issue.We sould have Freedom of choice and trade and certainly freedom of speech. How elce are we going to learn. Thank you for speaking out. You are right about Patrick. Had he had the right medicine he would probably still be here. I wish I could go back and handle things differentl with Ray, my husband. If we had known then what we know now I think he would still be with us today!

People make mistakes. Anyone that knows you should know that you meant no harm or disrespect toward Patrick and his family. It's okay to listen to people on TV like those on "The View",...but why people take what they say as significant. Personally,...I don't watch "The View". I'd rather watch a bunch of cackling chickens in a barn yard. BTW, the only difference is chickens don't drink coffee. Anyway,...I don't see Whoopie getting out there doing something to help fight cancer. Suzanne, you're an angel trying to do something about a disease that kills millions around the world by offering information about alternative treatment methods. You never said it's a 100% guaranteed cure. Keep going with your mission. Let the critics say what they're going to say. Maybe they'll step up to the plate someday and take a swing at it instead of yelling from the sidelines.

My husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer Nov 27 07. The tumor was located at the head of the pancreas. It was inoperable. We went to Johns Hopkins and followed the protocol Under advisement of Dr. Cameron. Which was radiation and chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and the Whipple there after if successful. It was no picnic. It was hell and back! Then after the surgery another round of chemo. I was right there beside him through this whole ordeal and may God be my witness I don't know where he got the strength or the fight to continue. But what I do know if you ask my husband if he would change any treatment he would say no it saved my life. We both believe in our hearts of hearts that chemo made the difference.
I think whatever choice is made after being diagnosed with a terminal illness should be respected and based on that individuals decision. My husband is Cancer free but well aware that with any illness outcome does not come with a Warranty!!
