I left a tribute the day after Suzanne passed, so it’s all the way back in the beginning of this book. Still, I felt compelled to leave another today. This one’s for Alan, so I hope he’s reading it.
Last night I tuned into the FB live cooking show with Alan, Caroline and Bruce. I have always enjoyed the cooking shows. Caroline did a terrific job as always, but it was bittersweet without Suzanne. I’m sure I speak for many when we say we’re happy to see Alan surrounded by family and so much love.
I went on YouTube and one of Suzanne’s prior interviews popped up. It was the podcast entitled “Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson.” I love listening to Suzanne, she is so comforting, so genuine and so wise. During this particular interview, she became emotional towards the end. She made reference to a time when her therapist told her “Suzanne, the worst is over” and she said she knew that to be true. She went on to say how much she loved her life, her marriage, her family, her career, and everything she has that she was grateful for.
As a recent breast cancer survivor, her words coincided exactly with what I needed to hear. I was speaking with a family member earlier that day, and actually said “I hope the worst is over…” Suzanne was a talented actress, singer, writer, business woman but her real superpower was her incredible ability to relate, in the most human sense, to another person. When she spoke, I felt like I had a friend who understood my trials and was there to help me find a solution. The hope she had was evident in all things she did, and through sharing her determined attitude and ability to keep reinventing herself, the breakthroughs in her life became an example to help usher so many of us through the fire.
What a woman she was. Alan, what a love you shared. She’s very much missed.
I would like to send my deepest condolences to you all at this difficult time. May peace be with you. I’m so sad, because I feel like I’ve lost a family member myself. I bought one of Suzanne’s cooking books about 20 years ago, but only last year connected with Suzanne.com, after seeing the products on fb. I had been looking for toxic free, organic products and was eager to try the facial care line. I felt like it was meant to be that the site appeared to me. It was then that I started routinely watching you all “live”, cooking or using products. Now I not only use the facial products, but other items as well. I’ve enjoyed “our time” so much and love watching, listening and learning from all of you. Hope that continues. You’ve made me feel like part of your family. Suzanne was a one of a kind treasure. Thank you for sharing her. She will be so missed.
Deepest condolences to the family. I will miss Suzanne’s smile and presence on the Facebook live. I stumbled across the live during the Covid shutdown and watched ever since. I so admired the love that she and Al clearly shared together, I want to replicate that so very much in my own marriage. I was inspired by Suzanne in so many ways from cleaner living, cooking and wanting to be a happy better person. And for that I am extremely grateful to her for giving me a beautiful perspective on life❤️❤️❤️
